Co-operatives Build in October

It is that wonderful time of year again when we have one whole month dedicated to co-ops! The theme this year is “Co-operatives Build” and we could not agree more. We had good growth during the past year and are getting ready to grow and build our membership even more in the coming year.

We will have lots of co-op information on our Facebook site each week this month. Please connect with us and share so that others in our area will see how a co-operative grocery will be great for our community.

Did you know, the Merrimack Valley Food Co-op is a member of the Neighboring Food Co-op Association (NFCA) a group that includes more than 35 food co-ops and start-up initiatives? These co-ops along are locally owned by more than 107,000 people and together, these co-ops employ over 1,800 people, generate revenues of more than $250 million, and purchase more than $50 million from local producers each year.

We are in that start-up category adding to the total number of co-op members in New England but we are working hard to get closer to the goal of having a cooperative grocery where we can really make an impact in our community.
